Bucks County DUI Attorney
Respected and Experienced Newtown DUI Lawyers Are Available to You
Across the country, DUI and DWI laws are becoming more and more strict. If you have been stopped for driving under the influence, then you cannot afford to proceed without consulting a trustworthy experienced DUI defense attorney. Challenging a DUI charge is possible if you have the right information. Did the officer have the right to stop your vehicle? Did he or she have the right to ask you to step out of your vehicle? Ask you to perform field sobriety testing? Did the officer request that you submit to a chemical test of either your blood or breath? These questions need to be reviewed by experienced, aggressive Newtown DUI lawyers who are trained to detect the flaws in the Commonwealth’s case against you.
If you are arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Newtown or the surrounding areas, then you will need help from a highly qualified legal team to fight for your rights. At Kardos, Rickles & Hand, our Bucks County DUI attorneys work aggressively to protect our clients’ rights and achieve the best possible outcomes. We treat our clients with respect and dignity as they deal with criminal charges.
What Are the penalties for DUI Convictions in Pennsylvania and New Jersey?
The penalties for being convicted of a DUI or other criminal charges such as traffic violations or drug crimes vary by state and even county. In Pennsylvania, the penalty structure is complicated and depends largely on the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) and the number of offenses. Please refer to our reference sheet for details on Bucks County penalties, or talk to the firm if you are located in one of the surrounding counties, as there may be significant differences.
In New Jersey, the penalties for DUI are also based largely upon the offender’s BAC and the number of offenses they already have. The structure is as follows:
First offense with a BAC of .08% -.10%: Fine of $250-$400; jail sentence of not more than 30 days at the discretion of the court; 12-48 hours must be spent at an Intoxicated Driver Resource Center over the course of two days; three-month license suspension.
First offense with a BAC of .10% or more: Fine of $300-$500; jail sentence of not more than 30 days at the discretion of the court; 12-48 hours must be spent at an Intoxicated Driver Resource Center over the course of two days; license suspension between seven months and a maximum of one year.
Second offense with a BAC of .10% or more: Fine of $500-$1,000; jail sentence of no less than 48 hours; two-year license suspension; 30 days community service.
Third offense with a BAC of .10% or more: Fine of $1,000; jail sentence of no less than 180 days in county workhouse; 10year license suspension.
